kuenstlerhaus43 is a highly regarded theater institution in Wiesbaden that has been supported by the city for many years. The emergency situation in which the theater finds itself has been widely discussed not only in the Cultural Advisory Council, but also in the municipal committees. You know the facts.

A replacement solution for the theater is currently being sought. As things stand at the moment, however, this replacement solution will in no way be ready for operation and occupation when the theater's lease in the Palasthotel expires - if one can be found in the near future.

The theater's situation is becoming more dramatic and desperate by the week, as the lease for the theater in the Palasthotel, which is owned by the municipal GWW, ends on December 31, 2025 and there is currently no immediate alternative accommodation in sight.

This situation has been known in principle since September 2024. The Cultural Advisory Board has given a clear vote on how to deal with the situation, and the Committee for Schools, Culture and Town Twinning also supports it: There is initially no alternative to extending the contract in every respect. As representatives of the municipal administration pointed out at the Cultural Advisory Board meetings that a special meeting of the Supervisory Board of the municipal GWW would be necessary, the Cultural Advisory Board appeals to you as Chair of the GWW Supervisory Board, in view of the dramatic situation of the theater, to schedule a special meeting this month if possible or, alternatively, to order a circulation procedure in order to clarify this rental issue as quickly as possible and end the untenable state of limbo for the theater.

In view of the dramatic nature of the situation - not only the existence of the theater, but also that of the jobs there are at stake - it would be completely unacceptable if the solution to the problem were to fail due to the question of finding a date for a decision.
