Conceptual support for the performing arts

In 2025, the Wiesbaden Department of Culture once again announced a call for proposals for the promotion of concepts and young talent in the performing arts. The main objectives of this funding program are to strengthen innovation and support up-and-coming artists within the independent performing arts community.

Conceptual funding for the performing arts is provided for up to two years and supports projects that require more long-term, continuous funding, independent of production. In addition to financial support, the Wiesbaden Cultural Office also supports all funded artists with advice and know-how.

The application must be submitted via the funding portal of the state capital Wiesbaden, the link to the application can be found below.

Application for conceptual funding for the performing arts

Creative artists from the fields of theater, dance and performance are invited to apply for the funding program by 23 February 2025 using the link below. Funding is awarded based on the recommendation of the Performing Arts Expert Jury, which is appointed by the Cultural Office.

The decisions were communicated at the end of March 2025.

Selection 2025

A five-member jury of experts selected the following application:

Julian Moritz Buch with "KuKom - Network for Synergies in Art & Communication"

together with Patrick Gerner (Besser Samstag), Francesca Herget (Music Women Hessen), Beate Krist / Manuela Pirozzi (Theater 3D), Frederic Ecker / Lilli Suckfüll (ARTNURWO), Mareike Buchmann (Ida Flux Ensemble)

Short description: Eight actors from different artistic production contexts are joining forces to pool their resources in terms of public relations, lobbying and networking, further training, administration and reputation. These are also to be made available for an even broader network in order to strengthen up-and-coming artists in particular, as well as those without institutional funding, and to help them to develop and grow artistically in Wiesbaden. In line with the cultural development plan, the aim is to work together and cooperatively and to release synergies in interdisciplinary projects in the fields of theater, performance, installation, film, music, visual and spatial art. Through the community of trades, the infrastructural work previously carried out partly on a voluntary basis is to be absorbed in order to prioritize artistic creation and the enhancement of aesthetic excellence. The network would like to establish structures for joint events, further training and public relations work, develop a common political voice in order to bundle lobbying work and reputation, represent interests in solidarity and secure further financial resources. Wiesbaden should also become more attractive as a cultural location for up-and-coming artists in order to counteract the exodus to other cities and the associated loss of great artistic potential.

The jury consisted of:

  • Antigone Akgün, freelance performer, author and dramaturge
  • Dr. Philipp Schulte, Managing Director of the Hessian Theatre Academy and freelance author and dramaturge
  • Anne Tysiak, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Director of the Young State Theater
  • Mareike Uhl, ID Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main, Co-Artistic Director
  • Franziska Domes, Head of the Department of District Culture - Performing Arts - Music - Artistry at the Cultural Office of the State Capital of Wiesbaden
