International Sachsenhausen Committee
On March 25, 1986, the International Sachsenhausen Committee signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
The International Sachsenhausen Committee (ISK) was founded in Berlin on October 17, 1974.
The international association, registered in Paris, is an association of former prisoners of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp and its satellite camps. In 2006, former inmates and their relatives from 19 different countries were united in the organization.
The aim of the committee's work is to preserve the legacy of the former prisoners of Sachsenhausen concentration camp. This includes preserving the historical traces and memorials of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp and its commandos, remembering all those who died and defending the moral and material rights of the survivors and their families.
On March 25, 1986, Lord Mayor Achim Exner received the members of the committee, who had come to Wiesbaden for a meeting from March 25 to 27, in the ceremonial hall of the town hall. He praised the work of the association to preserve the memory of the crimes of the National Socialists for future generations.
The president of the committee took up these words and warned that history must never be allowed to repeat itself. He and his companions then signed the town's Golden Book, in some cases with the prisoners' tattooed numbers.
