Places of Historicism - Kranzplatz
In the first century AD, the Romans developed the Kranzplatz as a thermal spring area.
The wreath square
Kranzplatz, which merges directly into Kochbrunnenplatz, owes its name to the once oval wreath of trees.
In the first century AD, the Romans developed the Kranzplatz as a thermal spring area. Subsequently, a healing culture developed, which culminated in the construction of the "Trinkhalle" in 1887. The competition between the spa hotels forced their owners to constantly adapt and renovate their buildings, which changed the face of Kranzplatz within a few years in the 19th century. Only the "Schwarzer Bock" hotel has survived since the 15th century.
In 1945, bombs destroyed a large part of the historic square, but the Kochbrunnen temple and a remnant of the colonnade leave the former splendor of Kranzplatz.
