More than thirty delegates from 16 countries on all continents were welcomed by Lord Mayor Buch during the sixth general assembly of the International Association of Booksellers' Associations at a reception on September 18, 1962 in the ballroom of the town hall.

The Dutch president of the conference, Martin Cohen, expressed his thanks on behalf of his fellow booksellers for the warm welcome and explained that he had noted with great interest that around forty publishing houses were based in Wiesbaden. In this respect, the conference participants were pleased that the city also had a connection to their conference.

As a memento of their visit to Wiesbaden, the magistrates presented each of their guests with a book about the state capital before the booksellers signed the city's Golden Book.
