Additional requirements, grants, loans, health insurance and digital devices (homeschooling)
Additional requirements
Pregnancy for pregnant women from the 13th week of pregnancy (17 percent of the standard requirement)
Single parenting for single parenting of children (36 percent for one child under seven or two children under 16. For more than three children, the supplement is increased to up to 60 percent)
Disability / social benefit - for people with disabilities if they are taking part in retraining or further training as part of integration assistance (35% of the standard requirement) - for non-working relatives from the age of 15 if they have a severely disabled person's pass with the G mark (17% of the standard requirement)
Expensive food for people who require a cost-intensive diet for medical reasons (assessed on the basis of a medical assessment)
Special needs in the case of unavoidable, ongoing, non-recurring special needs (e.g. costs of exercising rights of access to the child)
Hot water for decentralized hot water production (hot water preparation via boiler or instantaneous water heater in the home instead of central heating)
One-off grants
In addition to the standard requirements, we can grant you one-off benefits for the following requirements:
initial furnishings for your home including household appliances
initial equipment for clothing and initial equipment for pregnancy and childbirth
the purchase and repair of orthopaedic shoes, repairs to therapeutic appliances and equipment and the hire of therapeutic appliances
Loans
In exceptional situations that are unforeseeable and cause a particular emergency (e.g. a faulty washing machine and/or stove, arrears in rent payments or electricity/gas, broken furniture that is urgently needed), we can grant you an interest-free loan under certain conditions.
It is important here that you do not have any assets at your disposal that you can use as a priority.
Health insurance
If you receive citizen's allowance, you are generally subject to compulsory insurance in the statutory health and long-term care insurance. We pay your monthly contribution.
This does not apply if you only receive citizen's allowance on a one-off basis, as a loan or in accordance with § 27 SGB II.
Did you have private health insurance before receiving citizen's allowance?
In this case, you do not have the option of switching to statutory health insurance when you receive the citizen's allowance. We can grant a subsidy for private contributions in accordance with § 26 SGB II. We can also grant a subsidy in accordance with § 26 SGB II for private or voluntary statutory contributions if the benefits are provided exclusively as a loan or citizen's allowance for persons not entitled to benefits who are capable of work. These amounts increase the loan amount.
In the special cases listed above (one-off or loan-based benefit receipt, private insurance), we will be happy to advise you individually on site. The periods of receipt of the Citizen's Allowance are taken into account as credit periods in the pension insurance history if there is no exclusion from the obligation to register. No pension insurance contributions are paid.
Assumption of costs for digital end devices for pupils
Jobcenter finances digital end devices for pupils if required
The Wiesbaden municipal job center (KJC) is implementing a directive from the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS). Pupils who receive benefits in accordance with the German Social Code Book II (SGB II) can receive an additional allowance of up to 350 euros per child for digital devices required for distance learning, usually for devices such as laptops, tablets and accessories, unless these are provided on loan by the schools. A corresponding certificate is required for this. Applications can be submitted retroactively from January 1, 2021. Persons entitled to benefits under SGB II are advised to contact their responsible benefits office at the KJC if they have a corresponding need.
