Even in Wiesbaden, which is generally regarded as a wealthy city, child poverty is evident in everyday school life. There are many pupils whose parents simply cannot afford a school bag, participation in a school trip, a warm lunch or afternoon supervision. Quite a few children come to school without having eaten breakfast. Unfortunately, even in an affluent society, none of these things can be taken for granted. In almost all districts, regardless of the type of school.

This must be counteracted in a decisive and uncomplicated way so that no schoolchild is excluded!

The "school sponsors" are there to help precisely these children. With your donation, you too can easily make your own contribution to combating child poverty in Wiesbaden's schools!

The project is managed by the Department of Finance, Schools and Culture. The decision on the respective need is made by teachers and school administrators on their own responsibility, without any bureaucratic requirements. Naturally, the names of the pupils are not disclosed. Only then do the informal applications reach the department, where they are processed very efficiently and unbureaucratically. The aim is always to ensure that the support gets to where it is really needed quickly. In addition to private donations, the city supports the project with a further 150,000 euros per year.

The project was launched back in 2008 with the support of the Wiesbadener Kurier newspaper and has since been able to help countless children and put a smile on their faces. A lot of feedback from the schools expresses the gratitude of the pupils.
