Bellevue Hall

The Bellevue Hall at Wilhelmstraße 32 is now an established exhibition venue and, thanks to the commitment of volunteers, has become an integral part of Wiesbaden's cultural life.

Bellevue Hall

The Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal is an association for contemporary art. The "Verein zur Förderung künstlerischer Projekte mit gesellschaftlicher Relevanz e.V." was founded in 1986 by a group of artists as a platform for the realization of their own projects. In the fall of 1993, when Wiesbaden was threatened with cultural austerity, the association took over the Bellevue-Saal exhibition venue and the selection of guest artists from the city in order to form a strong and independent lobby for the visual arts in a time of cutbacks.

In the meantime, the Bellevue-Saal has established itself as an exhibition venue and, thanks to the commitment of citizens, artists and financial support from the city, has become an integral part of Wiesbaden's cultural life.

The concept for the exhibitions in the Bellevue-Saal can be summed up as follows: 1:1. A local artist develops a concept for a joint exhibition with an artist "from outside". Sometimes exciting contrasts arise, sometimes interesting additions, in any case exhibitions that arouse curiosity and open up a diverse dialog between artist and citizen.

Two forms of solo exhibitions break with this principle: the guest artists, most of whom come from abroad, show the works they have created in Wiesbaden in an exhibition at the end of their four-month stay. And older artists are presented in the "Artists over 60" series.
