Successful training of new tour guides for Wiesbaden

June 10, 20214

The training of new tour guides for Wiesbaden has been completed. Since June 10, 2024, the city can look forward to 12 new Wiesbaden experts who will bring Wiesbaden to life with various guided tours. After three months of training and almost 100 teaching units, the participants passed the written exam in April, followed by the practical exam in mid-May. On June 10, 2024, all 12 participants who passed the exams were ceremoniously presented with their tour guide certificate at the Wiesbaden Kurhaus by WICM GmbH, the Wiesbaden Tour Guide Association and the Wiesbaden Adult Education Center, which also played a key role in the training. This means that the tour guides are now "ready for action" and will initially start with the taster tours through Wiesbaden. The tour guide training at WICM GmbH takes place every five to eight years.

Steadily increasing demand for guided tours

In 2023, WICM GmbH recorded a total of 1,269 guided tours through Wiesbaden, with demand increasing. There is a wide range of different guided tours on offer: every Saturday, various public themed tours - such as history & stories, nature & water, art & culture and culinary delights - are offered. There are also taster tours on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., which are particularly popular with guests. The tour guides are also on duty every second Friday until October on the public culinary tour through the Bergkirchenviertel district with three tasting stations to bring Wiesbaden to life for guests. Group tours, such as the wine tour through the city, a culinary tour through the Westend, a farm tour at Domäne Mechtildshausen or a tour on the Neroberg with wine tasting at Château Nero, complete the range of varied tours.

And these are currently the five most popular tours:

  • One-hour introductory tour (beginners' tour for those who have not yet been to Wiesbaden and want to get an initial overview of the city)
  • Humorous stories (classic two-hour city tour - extended tour with amusing stories)
  • THermine XL package (includes a ride on the THermine, a guided tour of the Neroberg, a ticket for the Nerobergbahn to the valley and a return trip to the city on the THermine or public transport)
  • City tours for larger groups with their own bus including a stop at Henkell Freixenet for a champagne toast
Guided tours of the sparkling wine cellar at Henkell Frexeinet
