Positive assessment of the current construction site situation

The state capital of Wiesbaden gives a positive interim assessment of the current construction site situation. Thanks to the planning, the disruption to traffic has been reduced to a minimum despite numerous measures taking place at the same time.

A large part of the construction work was deliberately moved to the Easter vacations, as experience has shown that there is less traffic during this period. The feared traffic chaos did not materialize and traffic continues to flow well in most areas.

Important infrastructure measures are currently being implemented throughout the city, both for modernization and accessibility. Below is an overview of the most important construction sites:

- Dotzheimer Straße: Hessenwasser is laying a new water pipe there. Traffic is being directed in one lane in both directions. The work is proceeding according to plan and traffic is flowing smoothly despite restrictions. The work is expected to be completed on May 8.

- Biebricher Allee: ESWE Versorgung is renewing a water pipe at Höchster Straße. Due to the single-lane traffic regulation, there are restrictions. The flow of traffic is still guaranteed.

- Berliner Straße in Erbenheim: The civil engineering and surveying office is making bus stops barrier-free. There is a one-way traffic regulation in the direction of Erbenheim; a corresponding detour has been set up for the direction of the city center. Traffic is being successfully diverted and there are no major problems.

- Klarenthaler Straße/Elsässer Platz: The barrier-free bus stop expansion is also progressing here. The lanes are restricted. The work is proceeding smoothly and traffic is flowing without any major disruptions. Both measures will be completed by the end of the vacations.

Despite the overall positive results, there are two areas where there are tailbacks: ESWE Versorgung is expanding the district heating network in both Schwalbacher Straße/ Rheinstraße junction and Frankfurter Straße. This is causing delays in the flow of traffic. In Frankfurter Straße at Viktoriastraße in particular, the traffic lights are causing traffic jams. In order to relieve these areas, the state capital of Wiesbaden recommends alternative routes: either via Berliner Straße, Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, Lessingstraße in the direction of Friedrich-Ebert-Allee or from the direction of the A66 directly via Mainzer Straße in the direction of the city center.

The state capital of Wiesbaden would like to thank all road users for their understanding and patience during this important construction work. The measures are essential for the long-term improvement of our infrastructure and the expansion of accessibility. Despite selective restrictions, it is clear that careful planning and coordination can help to largely maintain the flow of traffic even during extensive construction work.
