The Nachbarschaftshaus, a non-denominational and non-partisan social institution based in Biebrich, was initiated by committed women, including the teacher Magda Kelber, in the early 1960s and was inaugurated in 1966. From the outset, it was aimed at all generations. At the end of the 1990s, the building was extended by one floor due to the increased demand for kindergarten places. A few years ago, daycare places were created for crèche children. In 2008, the neighborhood house was included in the federal program of the same name as a "multi-generational house".
