With a turnover of around 2 billion euros and around 18,500 employees, the skilled trades sector is an important part of Wiesbaden's economy. It also offers diverse and varied activities with very good career and development opportunities, generates tax revenue and increases value creation in the region as a whole through economic links with other companies.

The political, economic and ecological changes are also presenting the skilled trades sector with major challenges. At the same time, it plays a central role in managing the transformation processes in the energy transition and climate protection. To ensure that the skilled trades sector in Wiesbaden can continue to operate successfully in the future, it needs SME-friendly framework conditions and an attractive location policy. The state capital of Wiesbaden has recognized the need for action and, together with the Wiesbaden Chamber of Skilled Crafts and the Wiesbaden-Rheingau-Taunus District Skilled Crafts Association, has developed a Wiesbaden 2030 Skilled Crafts Agenda, which aims to improve the economic framework conditions and attractiveness of the location for skilled crafts in Wiesbaden.

The Crafts Agenda includes measures in the areas of skilled and junior staff, start-ups, space and energy, digitalization, transport and procurement, which are to be implemented jointly by the city and the skilled trades in the short and medium term or by 2030, depending on their scope.
