Homonale - the queer film festival

The "Homonale" is the queer film festival of the state capital Wiesbaden. Every year at the end of January, the Homonale film team presents films about gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people in cooperation with the Department of Culture and the DFF - German Film Institute and Film Museum.

Whether coming out, living queer as a single person or in a relationship, rainbow families or homosexuality in old age, gender identity or migration - the "Homonale" team has been presenting a diverse and colorful film program far beyond the queer community for 25 years. In addition to the topic-specific selection, the focus is also on different countries and cultures with their specific approach to queer topics, such as in films from Georgia, Morocco, Thailand, South Korea, China and Peru.

The "Homonale" is one of the few queer film festivals in Germany. The festival always takes place at the end of January and is organized by a volunteer film group together with the cultural office of the state capital Wiesbaden and the DFF - Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum.
