Selection of the best measure
In January 2025, the ÖKOPROFIT participants in the 2024/2025 entry-level program took stock. In the seventh workshop, the companies and organizations presented their best measures and awarded prizes for three highlights.
Fasanerie Animal and Plant Park sets an example with sustainable mobility
Sustainability is not just a trend, but an obligation - especially for a nature and animal park like the Fasanerie Wiesbaden. We are therefore particularly pleased to have been recognized for our commitment to climate protection as part of the ÖKOPROFIT municipal cooperation project. Our measure to electrify our machinery and vehicle fleet was awarded as one of the best initiatives of the current ÖKOPROFIT 2024/2025 start-up program.
On Wednesday, 29 January, the eleven participating companies and organizations in the programme met at St. Josefs-Hospital Wiesbaden for an interim review. At the presentation of innovative environmental and climate protection measures, we were able to impress with our concept: the switch to electromobility significantly reduces the park's emissions and sends a strong signal for sustainable management in harmony with nature. In addition to the purchase of e-bikes and electric vans, other e-vehicles and low-emission equipment will also be integrated into our park.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger praised the wide-ranging commitment of the participating companies: "Sustainability and climate protection are no longer optional topics, but fundamental for a city worth living in." It is particularly pleasing that our commitment to a more environmentally friendly infrastructure was voted into first place together with the netorium AG initiative.
But our contribution to climate protection goes even further: in addition to electrifying our vehicles, we are committed to preserving and promoting biodiversity on our premises. We are creating valuable habitats for numerous animal and plant species through targeted environmental measures such as the near-natural design of our outdoor area.
In total, the participants in the ÖKOPROFIT program will save around 160 tons of CO2 and 45,000 euros in costs each year through their measures. Further sustainable projects are being planned and will be developed further until the project is completed in fall 2025.
As part of the ÖKOPROFIT network, we are helping to minimize energy and resource consumption, promote renewable energies and establish sustainable processes. Our aim is to take responsibility and serve as a role model for environmental awareness and climate protection. We invite all companies and organizations to join us in this important change and work together for a greener future.
The Fasanerie Animal and Plant Park will continue to actively promote environmental protection and drive forward sustainable concepts - for nature, animals and future generations.
