The cemetery, which was moved from Medenbach in 1863 to the course of today's country road, had to be adapted again in 1962 when this bypass was built. The monument protection here is exclusively concerned with the war memorial erected here in 1923, which found its place in the western extension that was decided after the First World War.
Even though the municipality was still independent at the time, the expansive shape of this memorial to the fallen appears oversized to the observer, especially in the overall picture of the rather manageable grounds of the Medenbach cemetery. An altar superstructure (a so-called 'ciborium') made of slate quarry stone rises up steeply, shielding the stone sculpture of a mourning female figure in a kneeling position.
