School social work Wiesbaden
School social work for young people has existed in Wiesbaden since 1977 and has been an independent field of youth welfare work in the School Social Work Department of the Office for Social Work since 1993.
The legal basis for school social work is the Child and Youth Welfare Act (Social Code VIII), in particular Section 13 "Youth Social Work".
School social work is aimed at young people who need support in their individual, social, academic and professional development during the course of their school career. To this end, the social education specialists at the schools work not only with the pupils, but also very closely with teachers and parents/guardians.
The wide range of services, including socio-educational group activities, discussion and leisure activities as well as counseling, are carried out in close cooperation with school services, services in the district, services offered by the employment agency and educational institutions as well as the various departments of the Office for Social Work. The work is based on fixed cooperation agreements and procedural regulations. They allow for reliable, professional work that always focuses on the young people.
