Nero valley

English landscape gardens were also the model for the design of Wiesbaden's Nero Valley Park.

Nero valley with villas

The park, which begins at the end of Taunusstrasse and ends after just under a kilometer at the Nerobergbahn viaduct, was laid out between 1897 and 1898. After its completion, almost 6,000 plants from all over the world adorned the six-hectare park, which was therefore often referred to as a "botanical garden".

The Nero Valley park, which is shaped by the course of the Schwarzbach stream and has been a listed building since 1985, is home to the war memorial completed in 1909 and a Bismarck memorial created in 1898. Lined with magnificent villas, the Nero Valley with its ponds and artistically designed bridges is a popular local recreation destination for Wiesbaden residents and visitors to the city.
