"District music" program expands decentralized cultural offerings

With the "District Music" format, the Cultural Office of the State Capital of Wiesbaden would like to expand the decentralized cultural offerings that are not already represented by the District Culture Days and promote music bands that perform at individual smaller events in Wiesbaden's districts and boroughs.

The call is aimed at (private) organizers who would like to host smaller live music concerts, for example in the courtyard or garden of their home, on the lawn of their apartment block or in a public space, or even indoors. Readings with live music are also conceivable. The event must be open to the public and the focus must be on the cultural experience. Performances as background music or at street festivals and other existing event formats (wine stands, notches, concert series, district culture days, festivals, etc.) are not funded. Applications from music pubs and clubs or catering establishments that usually offer live music programs are also not eligible for funding. The event must take place between May 1 and October 31, 2025.

Admission may be charged, but is not a requirement. The organization, promotion of the event and other tasks (artist catering, GEMA, infrastructure, technical equipment, registration with the public order office for serving alcohol, etc.) must be organized and financed by the applicant.

The Cultural Office will cover the musicians' fees up to 250 euros per person and concert if the performance lasts at least 60 minutes. The maximum funding amount for artists' fees is 1000 euros. They must be professional musicians who earn their living mainly by making and playing music. In addition to the fees, a technical allowance of up to 250 euros per concert can be granted if required. Invoices and receipts for the payment of fees or technical costs must be submitted to the Cultural Office.

Interested parties can apply for funding informally at stadtteilkulturwiesbadende until Monday, June 30. The application must include a brief description of the project - in particular the date, time, location, band, program and general conditions.

The amount of funding available is limited. Applications will be processed and approved as they are received. A maximum of one grant per applicant is possible, and an artist or ensemble may only receive funding for one performance from the District Music funding program (this should be checked with the artist or ensemble before submitting the application).
