Technical equipment for neighborhood house and Alzheimer society

Smart City Wiesbaden and the municipal company "Ein gesundes Wiesbaden" (EGW) support the work of Nachbarschaftshaus Wiesbaden e.V. and Alzheimer Gesellschaft Wiesbaden e.V. with technical equipment.

Since 2021, the "Gute Stunde" has been offering free digital and interactive cultural activities for older people. Supported by the state of Hesse, numerous readings, concerts and art and film talks were broadcast live via video conference in 2022 as part of the "Digitaler Kompass für Senioren" event series in cooperation with Smart City Wiesbaden, the municipal company "Ein gesundes Wiesbaden" (EGW) and "humaQ". The series of events proved very popular. More than 400 guests took part in the activities, both from home and from retirement homes.

The technical equipment used in this context, including a large screen, tablets and a soundbar, will now be made available on loan to Nachbarschaftshaus Wiesbaden e.V. and Alzheimer Gesellschaft Wiesbaden e.V. so that even more people can benefit from it.

"A smart city puts people at the center. Digital innovations are not an end in themselves, but contribute significantly to social participation and offer real social benefits. Places like the Nachbarschaftshaus Wiesbaden e.V. are indispensable as spaces for meeting and exchanging ideas, as is the Alzheimer Gesellschaft Wiesbaden e.V., which advises and supports those affected and their relatives. I am therefore delighted that we are able to support the valuable work of both organizations," says Smart City department head Maral Koohestanian.

Milena Löbcke, Head of the Health Department, also very much welcomes the measure: "Health and social participation go hand in hand. The digital cultural offerings of 'Guten Stunde', the extensive event program of Nachbarschaftshaus Wiesbaden e.V. and the comprehensive range of advice offered by Alzheimer Gesellschaft Wiesbaden e.V. make an important contribution to improving quality of life and well-being."

Originally launched as a measure against loneliness, the "Guten Stunde" program has established itself as a sustainable format and has already reached over 3,600 guests. The generation-integrative offer of the Nachbarschaftshaus Wiesbaden e.V. can also be viewed online at https://nachbarschaftshaus-wiesbaden.de/ (opens in a new tab).
