Your job? An adventure in the countryside!

As a landscape gardener, you will help to make Wiesbaden even more attractive and liveable with its parks and green spaces - such as Henkelpark, the Kurpark, playgrounds, cemeteries and the Fasanerie.

You design green retreats, adventure spaces and oases of well-being for the people of the city.

You work outside and use your green fingers to ensure that Wiesbaden shines in the brightest colors in every season.


Your tasks? A colorful bouquet of flowers!

  • You lay out parks, green spaces, lawns and summer flower beds.
  • You plant, fertilize and water trees, shrubs and plants and prune them in winter.
  • You propagate plants of all kinds.
  • You pave paths and squares with concrete paving and natural stone.
  • You erect fences and walls.
  • You work with machines such as wheel loaders, mini excavators, milling machines, lawn mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, hedge trimmers and much more.

Your training? The seed for a flourishing career!

  • Start of training: September 1
  • Duration of training: 3 years
  • Practical training: Parks department (training column)
  • Theoretical training: Louise-Schroeder-Schule (opens in a new tab) in Wiesbaden as well as inter-company courses (e.g. Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Gartenbau in Erfurt and Deutsche Lehranstalt für Agrartechnik in Witzenhausen near Kassel)
  • Examinations: Intermediate examination in the 2nd year of training, written and practical final examination in the 3rd year of training
  • Further training opportunities: Master craftsman/master craftswoman, state-certified technician or graduate engineer for garden and landscape maintenance

And you? Creative and close to nature!

Must-haves

  • Good secondary school leaving certificate
  • Physical resilience to carry out the sometimes heavy physical work

Nice to Haves

  • Interest in working with and caring for plants
  • An interest in using concrete blocks, natural stone and wood
  • Knowledge of calculating areas and percentages
  • manual dexterity
  • Spatial vision and imagination to translate plans into reality
