Department for Europe and Funding Management
The Department for Europe and Funding Management is part of the Department for Smart City, Europe and Order, which was also newly created on July 1, 2023.
Europe
The department coordinates the European work of the state capital of Wiesbaden.
The European work in the state capital of Hesse is very diverse and the department is responsible, among other things, for
- The organization of events on European topics for citizens and the provision of information material on the European Union.
- Promoting European offers, especially for young people, such as European school competitions or free Interrail tickets, as well as organizing its own events and implementing European projects for young people here in Wiesbaden.
- The early identification of legislative initiatives at European level that could affect Wiesbaden's interests and ensuring that the city is able to react in good time.
- Coordinating Wiesbaden's membership in the EUROCITIES network - a European city network for the exchange of information in the areas of social affairs, the environment, urban development and culture.
There are also major overlaps with funding management: the European Department provides information on European funding programs and researches suitable funding opportunities for project plans.
Funding management
The department coordinates the establishment of a central funding management system.
We are currently developing structures in order to actively cooperate with the specialist departments in the future and improve the funding rate in the state capital of Wiesbaden.
There are many different funding pots and programs at European, federal and state level. In cooperation with the specialist departments, funding management aims to identify eligible projects, provide advice to the departments and support them during and after the application process.
Central funding management contributes to the efficient use of financial resources and, with a limited budget, is particularly useful for project implementation: funding from the state, federal government or the EU makes it possible to implement new ideas and support necessary transformation processes in Wiesbaden. In this way, more projects can be realized that benefit the citizens of Wiesbaden and make our city a better place to live.
Funding Management also strives for an active exchange with European municipalities and organizations in order to benefit from experience in dealing with funding, to identify funding potential even faster and to design and implement more complex, supra-regional projects that are eligible for funding.
