Invest in the future on Saturday mornings!

S4F - Saturdays for Future - is a service offered by Schulsozialarbeit Jugend that supports pupils and their families in successfully completing school with a Hauptschule or Realschule certificate.

S4F offers pupils from Wiesbaden schools the opportunity to invest in their own future with School Social Work Youth. To this end, S4F offers 90 minutes of exam preparation in German, mathematics and English. Pupils can register for one, two or all three subjects. Voluntary participation is free of charge for pupils and their families. The prerequisite is that the pupils have a grade 4 or lower in the subjects mentioned. Registration often takes place in consultation with the teachers, always via the school's youth social work department. The offer extends over six to seven Saturdays in the second half of the school year, before the final written exams. The offer is deliberately launched after the half-year reports, which - in black and white - are often a wake-up call for pupils and their families: Now is the time to invest, otherwise graduating from school or transferring to a real secondary school is very much at risk.

S4F is funded by the "Opportunities for disadvantaged young people" action strategy. The participating pupils are disadvantaged because most of them come from families where they cannot be supported (professionally) because, for example, the family language is not German.

  • the family language is not German
  • parents do not speak English
  • their parents' math calculation and solution methods do not correspond to the calculation and solution methods required by the German school system
  • parents do not have time to support their children as they have to earn a living for the family
  • there is no quiet place where the pupils can study undisturbed

Around 200 pupils have registered for S4F every year since 2022 to learn the material required in the Hessian final exams in small learning groups on Saturday mornings with the support of professional teachers.
