Climate Protection Advisory Board
The Climate Protection Advisory Board supports the implementation of the climate protection concept. The city council resolved to establish the advisory board in 2018. The Climate Protection Advisory Board works as an advisory body for climate protection in Wiesbaden.
The members are nominated for a term of office by the organizations named in the advisory board regulations and confirmed by the municipal council. The committee currently consists of representatives from 16 Wiesbaden organizations.
The current term of office runs from 2021 until the upcoming local elections in spring 2026.
At the end of 2023, Dirk Vielmeyer was elected Chairman as a representative of the "Regionalbündnis Energiewende". He replaces Dr. Martin Lommel, former Chancellor of RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, following his professional departure from Wiesbaden. Gunnar Kerber, who represents the "Bündnis Verkehrswende" on the advisory board, was elected deputy chairman.
Members include Rhein-Main University of Applied Sciences, ESWE Versorgung, ESWE Verkehr, BUND, GWW, IHK, the Chamber of Engineers, the Chamber of Architects and Town Planners and the District Craftsmen's Association. These and other institutions work together to promote climate protection in Wiesbaden.
The Advisory Board's office is located in the Environmental Agency and can be reached at proklimawiesbadende. The public meetings of the advisory board take place four times a year. Anyone can attend as a listener. The dates are announced in the press.
