On December 8, 2020, numerous experts discussed the city of the future at the invitation of the then Head of Urban Development Hans-Martin Kessler and the Urban Planning Office.

Almost 200 people watched the digital event, which was moderated by Micha Spannaus and provided variety with numerous clips, audience surveys and a top-class panel.

Prof. Dr. Armin Nassehi from Munich with a sociological perspective on the crisis and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Krüger from Hamburg with an urban planning perspective opened the discussion with their impulses. The panel discussion with Dr. Rena Wandel-Höfer, then Chairwoman of the Design and Monument Advisory Board, Joelle Sander from Fridays for Future, urban researcher Prof. Klaus Overmeyer and City Councillor Kessler then addressed the major challenges, but also the opportunities for the Wiesbaden of tomorrow and the question of how the existing city can make itself resilient to future crises.

This colorful, hand-drawn infographic summarizes key findings and discussions on urban development after the Corona pandemic. It contains texts, icons and illustrations that highlight various aspects of a sustainable and resilient city. Main topics: - Sociological perspectives (Prof. Armin Nassehi): o The post-Corona world does not have to be fundamentally different. o Digitalization push: home office, cashless payment, digital media use. o Comparison The climate crisis is more long-term and bigger than the Corona crisis. - Urban changes due to corona (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Krüger): o Historical comparison with the cholera epidemic in Hamburg in 1892. o Inner cities face challenges: Danger of "office deserts", increasing online trade. o Multifunctional use of neighborhoods and new hybrid places necessary. - Discussion round on sustainable urban development: o Rethinking the distribution of space: the city as a meeting place. o Green and climate-friendly city: more quality of life, alternative mobility concepts. o Participation: greater involvement of young people. o Resilient city: adaptability to crises and new forms of use for public spaces. The infographic is designed in a lively way, with a variety of symbols, arrows and colors to visually illustrate connections.
